For all the times I’ve casually scarfed down a slice of cheese pizza from Slice on Broadway, I never knew I was eating a champion pie!
The local pizza chain took home an award for "World’s Best Cheese Slice" at the 2025 International Pizza Expo & Conference in Las Vegas — an annual showcase that includes more than 400 of the world’s best pizza makers.
The competition is judged by chefs and food critics in categories like crust, sauce, cheese, toppings, bake, overall taste, creativity, and appearance.
I’m no pizza expert or official judge, but I think Slice’s cheese pie has a perfectly thin and crispy crust, a balanced tomato sauce, and just the right amount of cheese — a New York-style pie on Broadway.
“This moment means everything. It’s not just about one incredible slice — it’s about the passion, the hustle, and the amazing team behind it all. From the crew at the show to everyone holding it down back in Pittsburgh — we did this together,” Slice on Broadway posted on Facebook.
🍕 Snag a slice at locations in Beechview, Carnegie, Shadyside, South Side, Robinson, and Wexford. (PS! If you like their ‘za, try a handheld from their sandwich spot, Tim’s Corner Market, in Beechview.)
🏆 Pittsburghers also claimed winning titles in the Pizza Acrobatic and Pizza Triathlon competitions, and Iron Born was named among the top five non-traditional pizzas.
