Pittsburgh’s Best Local Gift Shops & Stores

00:00:00

Any business can be a gift shop! But if you need a present in a pinch, here are your one-stop spots in Pittsburgh.

📍Regent Square, Wilkinsburg + Garfield

This colorful shop and crafty education space has a mix of locally made and specially curated products — from botanical drink mixes and tea ware to DIY kits and crystal incense holders. An even better present? Gift an experience and book one of their workshops!

📍East Allegheny (Deutschtown)

There’s something beautiful tucked in every corner of this store. In addition to fresh blooms, Farmer’s Daughter sells gifts that are a fit for any host, homebody, or flower child. Find cookbooks, plant pots of all shapes and sizes, sweet-smelling candles, unique wall prints, and much more

📍 Dormont

This shop on Potomac Avenue has beautifully restored furniture and mid-century style home decor like lamps, dishware, candle holders, and textile art — plus a huge table of locally made items like prints from Gingerly Press, candles from Chez Lapin, and jewelry by Collarbone.

📍Strip District

This neighborhood gem is the absolute best for the foodie in your life. Browse through thousands of kitchen gadgets, get your knives sharpened, or check out one of their cooking school classes, including filled pastas, Polish comfort food, Korean fried chicken, knife skills, and more.

📍Central North Side

Wear your pride for original art with museum swag designed by the artists themselves. From Greer Lankton’s signature “It’s all about me, not you” motifs to Asim Waqif’s shattering “MF analysis” prints, there’s something for any art lover in your life.

📍Oakland

Phipps’ collection is exactly what you’d expect — a plant lover’s oasis. Look for home goods like cutlery and decorative pillows as well as crafts like a wolf-carving kit, flower presses, and countertop composters. The children’s selection is especially large, and they have tons to choose from for both beginning and expert-level gardeners.

📍Strip District, Mt. Washington + Downtown

Love, Pittsburgh carries items from over 100 local artists and makers — and there’s something for everyone’s taste! Proud yinzer? Get them a “nebby” mug and a neighborhood puzzle. Local foodie? They’ll really dig this tiny bottle of Heinz ketchup or pierogi salt from Steel City Salt Co. Stop in to browse these goodies, plus apparel, art, pins, candles, jewelry, and more.

📍Lawrenceville

Get yourself a sweet treat and coffee from Oliver’s Donuts while you browse the other vendors inside the Market House — Nine O’Clock Wines, MJ Eclectic, Paw de Deux, Fjord & Fable, and more. And check their Instagram before you swing by; they’re always hosting pop-up markets.

📍 Brentwood

Browse this up-and-coming “bookstore for bookworms,” which just leased its first storefront. Look online for stickers, tumblers, and a small collection of used books, and keep your eyes on their Instagram for updates on the community space coming soon!

📍Downtown, Shadyside + Cranberry (Strip District coming soon)

Steel City carries apparel and accessories with a ton of local pride — but with a hip, vintage feel. Go for an everyday T-shirt with the city skyline or understated game day gear that says “Play Renegade.”

📍Strip District

Pickle pajamas, Heinz chip clips, a trolley dog toy, and a “good vibes” Mister Rogers tote — those are just a few of the perfectly Pittsburgh things you can find in the Heinz History Museum gift shop. (A museum membership makes a great gift, too!)

📍Shadyside

This shop is perfect for your pal who likes to be cozy. Snag them a pair of socks fit for their personality, a new read or coloring book, and a mug for their favorite warm beverage. And of course, a card or game to go with it!

Because they share a building, you can check out art goods and supplies in the Carnegie Museum of Art store just a few paces from etymology pencil cases and night sky playing cards at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History store. (Megan Harris / City Cast Pittsburgh)

📍Oakland, North Shore, North Side + Chateau

There’s something special for all ages and all interests at our museum stores. Find a STEM kit from the Science Center Xplor Store, all things dinosaur at the Museum of Natural History, a fun flower Warhol tote from The Andy Warhol Museum, or an “Evening in Pittsburgh” Yoshida Hiroshi T-shirt at the Carnegie Museum of Art.

📍Carnegie

This paper shop has cards, notepads, wrapping material, and a variety of kitschy goods that make easy gifts. Don’t skip the big display of pencils with fun phrases like “Someone in Pittsburgh loves you.”

📍Strip District

Super fans of No. 21 can collect patches, puzzles, and vintage magnets of Roberto Clemente, who played with the Pirates through their glory days in the 1960s and early 70s, before his tragic death in 1972. We love the black and gold crew socks and a gift pack boasting a little taste of everything.

nail files adorned with the home's signature quatrefoil

Tour the historic Clayton mansion, then skip over to The Frick’s gift shop. (Francesca Dabecco / City Cast Pittsburgh)

📍 Point Breeze

The Frick has one of the best collections of children's books and activities (the paper dolls!!) of any shop in the city, but don't sleep on their curated jewelry collection or all the creative nods to decorative elements visible around the historic property, from stickers showing the Phipps Conservatory-style greenhouse to a nail file adorned with the home's signature quatrefoil.

📍 Mt. Lebanon

With rotating inventory from over 25 local makers, you can always find something special, like recycled nylon bags, baby blankets, bento boxes, and more. Customers can even personalize their goodies with in-house embroidery, engraving, and hand or vinyl lettering — plus gift wrapping!

📍 Allegheny Center

Take flight with something from their nest full of gifts! Snag colorful bird plushies for a child at heart, mosaic earrings for your next night out, toucan kitchen shears, an owlet timer, birdwatching field guides, art prints, and more. Many of their gifts are also available online.

📍Lawrenceville

You could spend all day perusing the massive wall of greeting cards, tables stacked with Pittsburgh-themed decor, racks of stationary and journals, and heaps of quirky kitchen items. Looking for kids’ gifts? Head to the back of the store — and peep the wrapping material there, too! Extra perk: Wildcard will wrap your item at checkout if you tell them it’s a present!

📍Mt. Washington

This urban flower farm and little gift shop stocks different items through the seasons: pumpkins and witchy decor in the fall, unique ornaments and moody candles in the winter, and colorful blooms and vases in the spring and summer. Follow their Instagram to know about pop-up markets and workshops.

📍Lawrenceville

Look for handcrafted, functional, and decorative artwork like handmade ceramics, statement jewelry, blown glass, handwoven or hand-dyed fiber art, and heirloom-quality furniture. Or take the gift one step further and book a workshop in crafts like weaving, rughooking, spoon carving, and more.

📍 Wexford & Cranberry (PIT coming soon)

Alongside edible favorites like coffee, tea, and pastries, you can also find a burst of nature. Pick up a hard-to-find houseplant or a custom-made cutting board from Mars Design Studio. We love the bottlecap magnets that say “neb nose” and “get aht!”

📍 Squirrel Hill

Snag a holiday ornament, cold-weather scarf, or hand-crafted picture frame from artisans around the world. This small-scale chain specializes in ethically sourced products and materials, ensuring makers earn a fair, living wage in safe working conditions.

📍Central North Side

Mayfly wears a lot of hats – community store, deli, ice cream parlor, coffee shop, and more. And they’re the perfect stop for perishable treats and unique goodies like Pittsburgh-scented candles, floral bouquets, delicate stationary, cooking tools, and more.
