Grab your buckets! It’s officially strawberry season, and Pittsburgh-area farms are opening up their fields so you can pick your own. Here’s where to get in on the sweet summer tradition ⬇️

📍Monongahela

Head about 50 minutes south of the city to Washington County for a pick-your-own adventure. The strawberry fields are open daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., June through mid-July. You can’t go wrong with a visit to their market for some homemade strawberry-rhubarb jam!

📍Wexford

Keep an eye on Soergel Orchard’s Instagram or Facebook page to find out when the fields are open during the week. Pints are $6, and quarts are $8. Berries will be available until they are all picked, so go early! (Don’t forget to check the bakery to see if they have any berry treats!)

📍Clinton

Nothing feels quite like summertime like shopping at Janoski’s farm market — and you’re extra lucky if you’re there on a “u-pick” strawberry day. Follow their events on Instagram to get a heads up. Plus, they have special prices for bulk berries. Pie, anyone?

📍McMurray

Shop from this 5th- and 6th-generation gem in Washington County. When you arrive, stop in the market for picking baskets, then board the free hayride to the strawberry fields where you can pick 2-5 pounds per adult. Don’t skip the petting zoo!

🫐 Mark your calendars:

  • Trax Farms in Finleyville isn’t offering strawberry picking this year, but their market is still loaded with goodies like fresh-baked strawberry pies and cakes, strawberry-filled lady locs, and strawberry slushies. Blueberry picking starts in July!
  • Freedom Farms Berry Festival promises “berry everything,” with tractor rides, a petting zoo, more than 50 craft vendors, and lots of activities for kids. Tickets are $10; children under 3 get in free.
