Inflation is real, and we’re all trying to pinch pennies where we can. But you might have some cash that you don’t even know about!

There are billions of dollars in unclaimed property held by state governments and treasuries. Banks, insurance companies, and other corporations are required by law to report dormant accounts, but many funds remain unreturned or unclaimed.

Last year, the state treasury returned more than $211 million to the rightful owners, and the Unclaimed Property Program can track down money that belongs to you.

It’s simple. Just fill out an online form with your name and address. If there are unclaimed funds in your name, a list will appear with addresses, zip codes, and the type of property being held. If you see your name and everything matches, hit the "Claim" button. Then you’ll likely be asked to fill out a few forms and send them to the Pennsylvania State Treasury.

If you’ve lived in another state, be sure to check if you have any unclaimed money there, too.

Good luck if you try it out, and if you do, let us know how much you get!
