It’s tax season. *sigh*

The deadline to file your 2024 personal income tax return is April 15. File through the IRS website, the Department of Revenue’s state-only filing system mypath.pa.gov, or myfreetaxes.com. If you need extra help, here are some free resources:

United Way

United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania partners with volunteers throughout the region to help low-income households file their income tax return and maximize their tax refund. If you make less than $65,000 a year, sign up for an appointment or call 211.

AARP

You don’t have to be a certain age or meet income requirements to get tax help from AARP. Find your closest partner location, and book an appointment through their website or call (412) 530-5194.

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh

The Allegheny, Hazelwood, Main, Squirrel Hill, and West End Carnegie Library locations are hosting tax prep appointments. Book through the VITA portal.

CLP Homewood is hosting appointments. Book there by calling (412) 731-3080.

If you need hard copies of tax forms printed, Carnegie Libraries may have PA-40 and 1040 forms already printed and available. You can also print forms at any CLP location by using a public computer. Printing is free for the first 10 pages.

North Hills Community Outreach

Make an appointment at NHCO’s Millvale or California-Kirbride location by calling 211, texting your zip code to 898-211, or visiting this site. Like some other programs, you must make $65,000 or less.

Veterans Leadership Program

Vets can get tax assistance every Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2934 Smallman Street. Make an appointment by calling 844-VLP-VETS.

➡️ Visit this site to find more tax help locations like YMCA, JCC, and Just Harvest.
