This .4 square-mile borough is perfect for a day of exploration on foot. Admire the gorgeous Victorian houses, shop at local businesses, and soak in some nature time by the river.
Eat & Drink
Farmer x Baker is a personal favorite of mine. This repurposed shipping container cafe sits along the Allegheny RiverTrail Park and offers diners a riverside view while they devour delicious veggie-forward eats like the Veggie Beast bagel sandwich above. Plus, owner and baker/chef Jennifer Urich always has seasonal treats like magnolia ginger vegan soft serve.
Go, See, Do!
The Allegheny RiverTrail Park by the Highland Park Bridge is an urban oasis with walking and biking trails, a playground, and an amphitheater for live performances. Check out 3 Rivers Outdoor Co.’s single and two-person kayak and paddleboard rentals for an excursion on the water. And you can relax afterwards with a hammock rental, too!
Stay tuned for the Rock the River free summer concert series lineup announcement. It’s a great time with buddies, a blanket, and a bottle of wine.
