Get Involved With Food Justice

Pittsburgh is creating a Governance Committee to guide funding decisions for the new Food Justice Fund. Are you interested? Submit your application, and the Food Justice Committee will make recommendations to the city.

Sign Up for the Turkey Trot

The YMCA Turkey Trot Presented by UPMC Health Plan, an annual holiday tradition, will happen on Thursday, Nov. 23. Sign up for a 5-mile, 5K, or 1-mile fun run to raise funds to help fight food insecurity in our region.

Contribute Art for a Good Cause

Are you an artist? The Queer Family Planning project is accepting donations for art of any medium for their upcoming auction in October. All funds raised go directly to helping LGBTQIA+ folks start or continue their parenthood journey. Send them a message on Instagram to donate.

Got a Vegan Biz? Apply To Be a Vendor

Pittsburgh Vegan Expo is looking for businesses to set up at upcoming events: VOktoberfest at Velum Fermentation in the South Side on Sept. 16 and a Halloween Festival at Allegheny RiverTrail Park in Aspinwall on Oct. 21. Apply on their site.

Workshops for Teen Writers

Got a budding writer in your life? Write Pittsburgh is hosting weekly workshops this fall:

  • Rainbow Writers (for LGBTQIA2S+ teens) — Mondays, 6-7 p.m.
  • Storytellers (for fiction writers) — Mondays, 7-8 p.m.
  • Rule Breakers (for poets) — Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m.

They’re also accepting applications for the 2023-2024 Teen Council. This year’s focus is teen burnout. Add your voice and vision to the conversation!
