Know someone who needs a summer gig? CitiParks is looking to recruit, certify, and train lifeguards for the upcoming pool season. The number of city pools that will open depends on how many lifeguards come on board. Last year, Pittsburgh opened 15 pools, but in 2022, it only opened eight.

Who is qualified? Lifeguards must be City of Pittsburgh residents, at least 16 years old by Sept. 3, be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, and be willing to work at any CitiParks Outdoor Pool.

What does it pay? $16.97 to $19.57 per hour, based on experience

Are there extra perks? The job may lead to future city employment; many public safety professionals get their start as lifeguards.
