With weather this nice (sweltering is better than freezing, no?), it’s no wonder we’re patio-bound. Lucky for us, the Pittsburgh region is rich in outdoor dining options, but which patio is right for our summer mood?!

We teamed up with Discover the Burgh’s Jeremy Jones to round up some of our favorite spots. He’s personally visited over 1,300 local attractions — including restaurants, bars, and breweries — making him especially qualified to dole out patio superlatives.

Pittsburgh’s Best Patios for Outdoor Dining

💘 Most Romantic:

The elegance of Pusadee’s Garden comes from trellises, hanging plants, and soft lighting. Enjoy massaman potato curry and creatively-named drinks under twisting vines like a fairy-tale character.

⚙️ Most Unusual:

Looking for a patio that’s just a bit different? Head to The Abbey on Butler for its collision of personality from the building’s days as a metal-working business, a funeral home, and Methodist church.

🗝️ Most Historical:

For a dining environment that pulls in centuries of history, The Cafe at the Frick is arguably the best place in the city to interact with historical collections and enjoy a tiered afternoon tea.

🌱 Most Outdoorsy:

If you’re going to be outside, why not be all the way outside? Cobblehaus at the Falls overlooks Leesburg (aka Springfield) Falls and is basically camping with beer on tap.

🔭 Best Views:

Over Eden’s rooftop is ideal for sipping a cocktail with Pittsburgh on full display. Bonus: their indoor area also hosts stellar views.

🚸 Most Kid-Friendly:

The only thing better than soaking in the sun is doing it with family. The Porch, steps away from the Oakland Library and a carousel, has mac & cheese and firefly fries to please any eater and green spaces to play tag in after.
