| What Pittsburgh's Talking About |
| Legislation Limiting ICE on City Property Moves Forward | Pittsburgh City Council advanced two bills that would restrict ICE from โcommandeeringโ city-owned property and keep agents from entering private areas without a judicial warrant. The legislation is part of a package of bills, two of which have already been passed โ including a ban on city police and staff from cooperating with ICE. Council is scheduled to take a final vote next week. [WESA] | ย | 3 UPMC Hospitals at Risk of Closing | UPMC Mercy, UPMC McKeesport, and UPMC Greene are vulnerable to closure because of Medicaid cuts, according to a new consumer watchdog report. Congress passed, and President Donald Trump signed a spending bill in July that slashes federal contributions to Medicaid and CHIP, decreasing the reimbursements hospitals receive and passing costs onto providers. [TribLive] | ย | Pittsburgh Pools Get A Relaxing Upgrade | The city purchased 300 chairs and loungers for Pittsburgh pools. Snag your spot when the season starts on June 15, and use our guide to find where to make your first splash. Passes are now available for purchase. [City Cast Pittsburgh / City of Pittsburgh] | | Alcosan Project Is Millions Over Budget | A multi-billion-dollar project to clean up our rivers and streams hasnโt even started yet, and itโs already in the red. Allegheny County Sanitary Authority is expanding its treatment plant and building 18 miles of underground tunnels to capture and treat waste before it pollutes the river and streams. | - Alcosan user rates have nearly doubled since 2019, and residents will see another increase to cover the additional costs. Itโs not yet clear what that rate hike will be. [KDKA]
