Last week, I covered a little history lesson and tips on what to see and do in this neighborhood. Now I’m giving you a guide on where to grab a bite and do some local holiday shopping. Let’s mosey around Mount Washington!

Eat & Drink
🌮 If you take the Monongahela Incline (when it’s back up and running), Gordo's Tacos & Tequila is right at the top, ready to serve you cocktails and Mexico City-style street food.

🏒 Are you a fan of Pittsburgh hockey? Word on the Mount is that you might run into Evgeni Malkin at Kavsar, a take-out halal eatery with Russian and Uzbeki foo.

🍻 Coughlin's Law Kitchen and Ale House has 43 rotating taps, a seasonal menu for brunch and dinner, and most famously, a gorgeous rooftop. You can even book it for a catered event!

🍾 Go to The Summit for the specialty cocktails and small bites, stay for the good vibes.

🍔 Bigham Tavern has been Mount Washington’s watering hole for over a century. Today you can find booze, microbrews, and brunch bites like loaded mac and cheese. For more American comfort food, check out Shiloh Gastro

👀 For stellar food and views, make reservations at one of the upscale restaurants like LeMont Restaurant, Monterey Bay Fish Grotto, or Altius. Pro-tip: Don’t have reservations? Grab a seat at the bar for a last-minute date night!

🍰 Cookies, cakes, pastries, pies, oh my! You can get just about any dessert at Grandview Bakery.

Shop
☕ Find locally-made home goods, apparel, stationary, and art at Love, Pittsburgh. I think I need to put this “nebby” mug on my Christmas wish list.

🌲 When you visit Armful of Flowers, you will return home with just that. Shop for seasonal bouquets, book for special events, and find evergreen decor at the holiday market. See also: Wallace Floral Shoppe.

🖊️ Since we’re talking holiday shopping, I want to recommend a spot just outside the border of Mount Washington: Commonwealth Press. The union screen printing business has some great gifts like this “thank yinz” tote and parking chair ornament

🎁 ICYMI: We had a blast rounding up local gift recommendations on the podcast and in the newsletter last week.
